About Mich

I grew up in the USA playing the piano and accompanying choirs and singers. From there, I began singing as well, and I took music courses and helped lead choirs at school and university, alongside my main studies in archaeology.

After university, I moved to the UK in 1998 and have worked in several museums, including a reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake's ship and a hands-on archaeology centre for schools. I have specialised in educational work and, for 6 years, helped organise the activities programme at the Museum of Reading and supervised school sessions there. My favourite part of the job was using museum objects to bring ideas for life for children and seeing the excitement in their faces. I have also continued to sing in a variety of choirs and have studied other fun instruments like the Irish harp and mandolin.

Now that I have two small children of my own I can really appreciate the importance of music in a child's development. When I went on maternity leave with my second child, I decided to take a new direction and get involved with Kindermusik in my local area. I love that Kindermusik allows me to bring together my experience and love of music with my background of teaching children of all ages. I also have a great admiration for the background in childhood development and musical understanding that goes into making up the curricula.

I am a member of the Musicians' Union, hold an enhanced-level CRB (police) check, and have full liability insurance.
